# Our Story

## Before Redacted

Before Redacted, there was TerraBay, an independent project on the Terra blockchain whose Ronin NFT collection brought together a strong community. When Terra collapsed in May 2022, TerraBay lost everything, including its treasury.

Parts of that community stayed in touch and later came together to start something new, Redacted.

## First steps on Arbitrum

Redacted's token launched on Arbitrum through Fjord. We built and tested privacy products there, but none of them found real product-market fit, so we didn't release a final product. We found that fit on Rujira, for the reasons below.

## Why THORChain and Rujira

We chose THORChain and its app layer Rujira for two reasons, true decentralization and access to any asset with the best liquidity.

THORChain settles native assets, meaning real BTC, real ETH and real XRP, without wrapping, bridges or custodians, and it is secured by one of the most decentralized validator sets in existence. A privacy protocol is only as strong as the layer beneath it, and this layer has no single point of failure.

Rujira adds the product universe of orderbook trading, swaps, lending, staking and liquidations, all composable in one CosmWasm environment with THORChain's deep cross-chain liquidity behind it. When you act privately through Redacted, you are using real assets with real depth.

Years of close collaboration in the THORChain ecosystem made this a natural fit, and Redacted is built on Rujira.

## An independent protocol with a multichain vision

Redacted is an independent protocol with its own implementation, its own token and its own community, living on Rujira as its base. From that base the plan extends outward, with outposts on other chains carrying the privacy layer across the crypto landscape and every integration flowing value back home.

## Two ways to reach people

The Redacted interface is our own frontend and the fullest version of the experience. B2B integrations embed Redacted's privacy engine in the wallets, frontends and protocols where users already are, with fees flowing back to the network that runs it.
